FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ARE EYEBROW TATTOOS PAINFUL?
Levels of discomfort vary upon each individual’s pain threshold and sensitivity, but the sensation can be compared to tweezing of the eyebrows or a light scratching. To ensure maximum comfort during the procedure, a topical anesthetic (4-5% Lidocaine) will be applied before and during your treatment. Please note, if you are on your menstrual cycle you may be more sensitive to pain. Sleep, stress and caffeine can also play a factor in pain sensitivity.
HOW LONG DO RESULTS LAST?
Semi permanent pigments will fade over time naturally. Many different factors affect the life of the implanted pigment, such as color choice, lifestyle, sun exposure, skin type, hormones, medications and immediate and long term aftercare. Results can last years, but most clients will require an annual touch-up to refresh the color and shape of the eyebrows. Oilier skin types tend to fade quicker than drier skin types. Frequent smokers or those with iron deficiency anemia may have results fade sooner. Results vary with each client.
WHAT WILL THE FINAL RESULT LOOK LIKE?
Eyebrow tattoos work best for clients with dry to normal skin types. Hairstrokes on oiler skin types tend to heal softer and more blended. Clients with more natural existing hair will have more of a 3D look, whereas clients with less hair, will have more of a 2 dimensional look. Our goal is to achieve the most natural looking brow that compliments your face, regardless.
WHAT IS THE TATTOO HEALING PROCESS?
Healing time is approximately 10- 14 days for the top layer of skin. Initially after treatment, brows will be much darker and thicker than what the final result will be; it is important to understand that brows will become 10-15% thinner and 40% lighter. This is the purpose of your touch up or "perfecting" appointment, which can be booked 6-12 weeks after the initial treatment. Between 4-6 weeks, the area will be fully healed and reveal its true shape and colour.

* Any treatment, medication, or illness that compromises the immune system / healing process would make you NOT a good candidate for micropigmentation procedures.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE EYEBROW TREATMENT?
An in depth consultation where expectations are discussed, measurements are taken, colours determined, and a removable drawing of what your brows will look like is performed. The procedure can be performed the same day of the consultation. We allow enough time to complete paperwork, take before/after photos, 20-30 minutes of topical numbing, the procedure, and finally a review of aftercare.
WILL NATURAL EYEBROW HAIRS BE REMOVED?
We incorporate as much of the natural eyebrow hairs as possible. Any strays that lay outside of the eyebrow design will be removed.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY EYEBROW TREATMENT?
-
It is recommended to plan any vacations a minimum of 14 days after the procedure.
-
If you have an ideal shape and colour in mind, bring a few reference photos to your appointment. You may fill in your eyebrows as you normally would so we can take into consideration the shape you desire.
-
Do not consume alcohol, caffeine or blood thinners (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, other NSAID medication, fish oil, Niacin, Vitamin E) 48 hours before your procedure, to avoid excess bleeding, which directly affects color retention.
-
Stop using skin thinners (vitamin A, glycolic acids, exfoliation) on the brow area 2 weeks prior to your appointment. This includes chemical peels, dermabrasion, mesotherapy or anything that causes faster skin rejuvenation.
-
Avoid sun/ tanning bed exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you show up for your appointment with a new tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. As your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, it will take the tattoo pigment with it.
-
Some cosmetic procedures should be completed prior to your brow tattoo:
- Brow waxing/shaping (48 hours in advance)
- Brow tinting (1 week in advance)
- Botox/fillers (4 weeks in advance)
- Facials (48 hours in advance)
WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER THE EYEBROW PROCEDURE?
Aftercare involves not touching your brows (picking, scratching, pulling) while they are healing and potentially scabbing/flaking the first 7-10 days. Avoidance of excessive sun exposure, water, perspiration (working out), skin care products, makeup and exfoliation to the area is important so pigment and healing are not disturbed. Detailed aftercare instructions will be given on the day of the appointment, as well as an aftercare kit with specific healing ointment to maintain the health and longevity of your new brows.
WHAT PIGMENTS DO YOU USE?
We use both organic and synthetic pigments deemed safe for the skin; they are stable, high performance pigments that undergo rigorous testing for carcinogenic compounds, unsafe dyes/colorants, heavy metals and microbiological sterility. We do not use pigments made in China.
